Seeking Death
DEATH: THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF A DEATH RELATED TO JUDGMENT AND ONE TO SALVATION. LET’S CONSIDER THE LATTER IN THIS STUDY.
Am 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
Re 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
Nu 23:10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! (Elect die the death of the righteous; find salvation in Christ.)
Re 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. (Elect endured tribulation and were faithful unto death – depart out, redemption of the body, corporate salvation, come out of her my people.)
Job 3:20 Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
Job 3:21 Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;
Job 3:22 Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
Pr 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Pr 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
Ho 2:6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.
Ho 5:6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
Pr 21:6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
WHEN IS THE BODY SEEKING DEATH? WHEN THE THIEVES, LOCUSTS, SCORPIONS, FALSE PROPHETS ARE LOOSED FROM WITHIN:
Joe 2:9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
Isa 33:4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Jer 5:1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.
Ps 107:27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.
1Th 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
Re 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
Re 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. (The number FIVE is used to point to both judgment and salvation. In this context it seems to be talking about the judgment that’s come on Babylon.)
Re 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
Lu 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Elect again are not hurt since they flee from the midst of Babylon to deliver their souls.)
Eze 2:6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. (God seems to use the locusts and serpents, unsaved in the body to destroy with <words>… meaning they use the Bible to bring a destructive gospel.)
De 8:15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
La 4:4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.
Re 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. (God’s four sore judgments designed to destroy.)
Eze 14:21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
Conclusion:
Coming into tribulation is a time of judgment. The Bible appears to relate this to a time when the body is seeking death, (Salvation in Christ) and is not finding it. Only the Elect are being saved corporately as they come out of Babylon after the tribulation. Right now, I’m not aware of anything that would point to a great harvest of souls going on outside the local churches. This appears to be a universal judgment on Christendom as a whole.
